I'm NOT saying this is cool. Nobody should ever try this at home. I couldn't help but to admire the reflexes of the rider though.

A day in the life of a Scooter Squid!

Wonder if he can survive a week driving like that....or if it was done just for a single video?

That is normal driving in SE Asia and the Philippians.
It is amazing that half of the population is not killed in auto crashes each year.

I don't like that driver ... He/she/it thinks he/she/it is to good to wait like everybody else .   Just plain RUDE ... and dangerous to everybody else too.

Fast and fun is good but Polite is ...  Roll Eyes ... Polite !  Wink

Wait , that had to be a Dr-ed vidio , some of those passage ways to just too narrow to believe .

In those countries, there probably aren't a lot of laws. It's got to do with increasing prosperity for people in those countries, they buy a bike or scooter and they're off. Many years ago a similar situation applied here, when anyone could buy a bike and go off. Teenaged men brought 500-660cc British bikes on time payment, in theory you need a helmet over 30mph, learners weren't supposed to ride over 30 mph. Most survived, some were dead a few hundred yards from the dealership.

Hopefully someone would get that cleaned up quickly enough to not affect sales.

I am so thankful that I don't have to drive in that environment!

I have watched a lot of the Asian Scooter crash videos on YouTube.  Some of it is for entertainment (sick.....I know) - but it also provides me with some understanding of what to watch for when I am out riding.

The majority of the crashes appear to be a result of the riders going much faster than the surrounding traffic, and being obscured/hidden from the folks making turns.  A driver who wants to make a turn makes a judgement based on the traffic that is visible....they can't see the speeding scooter hidden behind the other cars - and the scooter rider is going far too fast to be able to stop.  It also appears that a lot of the scooter riders don't know how to use a front brake properly....and they lock up the brake and fall down instantly.

On a business trip to Brazil I had the opportunity to drive a little Fiat hatchback around the city of Belo Horizonte. I was not cut out for the driving style there at all. After roughly ten blocks I pulled over and let the car's owner drive again. It was too much for me.
