The electrical system only produces a limited amount of power. To get the headlight from
Distant candle under basket
to
Retina scorching beam, penetrating the night
is something others are working on.
Dave is doing a trial on a bulb.

Light bar or Halo project?

The stock headlight reflector isn't very good.  A Silverstar bulb makes it better - they generally last 10,000 miles or so.  An LED is brighter but the light control isn't good - it scatters the light around and makes some spots bright, some not so bright.  The LED may not shine down the road as far when using the high beam.

There are some threads about using the bottom mount light from an Intruder as a "bolt on" - it is better but not great.

A really good 7" headlight is a big improvement over the stock light.

If you use the "search" on this forum for headlight, or scroll down the list - you will find lots of headlight discussion threads.   And the total output of the charging system is around 100 watts - so you really can't add lights without taking the chance that you will run your battery down.....unless you go LED.

Paladin had one that looked like it belonged on a steam engine.
Dave, how is your test coming along?
And if you Know of a specific light that is better, not too much hassle to mount, I would certainly be interested.
I don't dim the light for oncoming, because it's not enough light to bother anyone,,, but finally I had a guy flick the lights at me. One person out of ,ehh, I dunno,, a few hundred?

I don't do any "winter" testing - we do have snow/cold/ice between November and April here in KY.  When the sun goes down at 5 PM....it is just too cold to go riding!

Here is the link to the LED headlight thread.......

Many Honda's from the 70's used a 7 in. headlight, and they are widely available. To mount them you will need brackets on each side of the fork tubes, also very available on e-bay.

Coming Soon......a new adapter to allow you to mount a 7" Harley headlight bucket.  It will be a simple "bolt on" upgrade for your headlight.  The bucket will allow you to use any 7" reflector assembly - including new LED's.
