Front Tire time
02/26/17 at 19:12:21

It's about time to replace the front rubber on my 02 and I'm looking for suggestions, I'm planning to keep the stock size tire unless something just a bit larger will fit. Any ideas are welcome.
thanks

I like my Pirellis. I don't ride in the rain so I won't comment there. They seem to be quiet, comfortable and long lasting.

I don't believe anything larger will fit on the front,(to wide) won't fit between the fender mountings. You can only go larger on the rear tire.

Besides, a larger front tire will wreck your handling.

You don't want a larger front tire.  Not only is the clearance a problem, when you get to the larger tires - you get tires that are built for big bikes weighing twice as much as the Savage.

You should pick a tire that you will wear out in 5-6 years or less, as the rubber loses grip as it ages.  If you ride less then 2.000 miles a year by a less expensive tire that will wear out in 12,000 miles.  If your ride 6,000 miles a year buy a more expensive tire that will go for more than 20,000 miles.

Here are the tire (pairs) that will fit the Savage.

Dave, thanks for the good advice I'll shop around for a less expensive front tire since I'm not riding a lot lately.
