Problem with starting after winter Need help!
02/23/17 at 05:42:16

Hey guys I bought my LS 650 last summer, everything was fine till this winter which was a very cold one (-10-15C) so I started the bike a few weeks earlier and it was all fun ran like an angel. But yesterday I just couldn't start it, same thing today I made a video whats up with it

Anyone any ideas whats up? My guess is that I have to recharge the battery or the starter died? Not sure.

Do you have a battery charger connected to your battery for the winter?
A Battery Minder ......
Is the water level in the battery right up?

Your bike was rolling over pretty good at the beginning of the video -
I have to ask the obvious... you sure you have gas? Is the choke on?

Did you check the carb? Make sure the floater looks clean.

Drain the gas out of the bottom of the carb as there may be a little water in there. Then make sure you are getting gas to the carb. if you have the original petcock, you may want to put the lever to the prime position. Make sure you have a fully charged battery. If you don't have a motorcycle battery tender, get one and hook it up  after every ride.

That's good advice, Mr.T.

I've put a charging "pigtail" on my bikes since the mid-80's. Back then, didn't have a Battery Tender, so I plugged my 1-amp charger into the light on the garage door opener. Every time the door opened or closed, the light would stay on for 10-15 minutes.

The Very First Thing I did to the S40 was to take the battery out, top off the cells (which the dealership had NOT done), fully charge the battery, then re-install with a pigtail.

Starters don't usually die unless someone cranks and cranks, overheating and cracking magnets.
Ether shot into the snorkel under the seat will tell you if it's a fuel or ignition problem.

So we got it started today but it started to leak some fuel underneath from a small pipe, carburator was clean, we tried again but didnt start that time so no clue really. I guess I gotta call the mechanic.

It's a simple carb , and you can win it . Plenty of mechanics to see you through, be patient. You'll learn, you'll save a ton of money, and ride more, because there is regular maintenance you're gonna need to be able to do. Either learn how to keep it on the road or spend money and wait for the shop to get to your bike.
