Really, if you have an opinion AtAll about immigration, watch this.

Over simplified and missing a huge point.  

We are not "enticing" those who can help in their own country AND we are helping those countries.  We have for decades.  We will continue to.

But there is absolutely no reason to effectively end immigration to the US.  Gumballs or no gumballs.

Obvious fact, who says $2 a day is poor?
If you have a roof, food and water you're rich.

If this weren't true,.. we wouldn't have a handful of examples of terrorist acts.. we would have millions...

There may be some terrorists trying to sneak in...
... but, the many, many,  thousandfold majority are fleeing terror themselevs...
Would you risk your life to save another?...
Would you risk you and your families life?...
Maybe not...
Would you take that risk to save a million lives?...

The answer should become more more vague...

Nazi's were German...
...but, so many lessons in humanity and courage are German too...
So many German families risked all to save innocent Jewish lives...
And that is the lesson in humanity...

It's not necessary to risk the lives of Ohio State students or Minnesota mall shoppers. If we really want to help and you think it's something we should take on, then send in the troops, kill the bad guys in those countries, and set up a government. We basically did that in Germany, Italy and Japan in WWII and those countries turned out very well.

I don't know what Jesus would say. He beat and ejected dishonest merchants that had taken over the temple. Render unto Caesar means more than just paying taxes, it and other passages equate to obeying laws and the rulers who govern you.  I can certainly find you Proverbs about the wisdom of building and maintaining a strong house or foundation.

There is no simple formula for compassion. It is not compassionate to give a child crying for a breakfast of ice crème, a big bowl of vanilla. That is the opposite of compassion. It is not compassion to give an alcoholic a bottle just to get him through another day. And my sense is it's not compassion to allow open boarders to change the very identity of this nation. Yes, we can take on some. But Trump's point (and Obama's too) and one that I agree with, not from those nations with limited government oversight or passport control. You can say extreme vetting all you want, but we know with absolute certainty, there will be terrorist among them. There will be.

Weakening this nation is not the solution to the world's problems. And yes, greater immigration weakens this nation in today's world because we refuse to demand assimilation. Just as importantly, the immigrants coming in have little to offer our economy except as workers at the lowest wages.

It's often repeated that these immigrants do the work Americans won't which I've always rejected. They take any job which drives the wages down. Take 10 million illegal immigrants out of the work force, and business would naturally be forced to increase salaries to entice workers. That's a natural minimum wage. But that's another topic.

But I think the liberal your view of compassion is first filtered through their partisanship. If it hurts Republicans, go for it, regardless of what it does to the nation.

Maybe compassion is just what I said. Go it, clear out the bad guys, give the good people back a country.
