Good luck old rider. That's really tough cancer to beat. Especially stage 4. Statistics will tell you that, but someone has to be in that 10% right? My families prayers are with you. I lost a friend at 40 yrs old to melanoma. He fought hard. When the Cleveland Clinic told him the cancer was spreading, inoperable and wasn't responding to the chemo treatments, he chased round finding alternative treatments. They just nuked him to near death trying to kill the cancer. The additional chemo treatments had him walking dead. It was rough on him and his family.
In hindsight, his sister and children told me that they wished he would have accepted the prognosis and made the most of his final months. Since my wife is in the field, I can sit here and say I agree 99.9%. But what if I'm the one who has it? Will I want to fight? I say no now, but I'm not actually faced with it.
