Correct Battery for '03 LS Savage??!
01/31/17 at 14:04:16

My parts man at ABC Auto cannot find the correct battery for my '03 Savage.
The problem is the vent tube is on the wrong side. When he orders a battery with tube reversed, the poles are on the wrong position.
What battery is recommended by ya'll??
Thanks in advance,
Tim

How long do these batteries normally last? I know, difficult question to answer but my battery is an '08 and original to the bike. It shows no signs of dying. Am I on borrowed time?

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!

Kris:

There is no way to know.  The battery in the ST1100 I bought was the original Yuasa battery with the Honda logo on it.....it was 13 years old and worked fine - until it died instantly at a stop for gas.  There was no warning.....it started the bike just fine all morning, then it didn't even have enough power to run the neutral light.  I got a jump and it started right up and I rode for 40 minutes on the way home hoping to charge the battery....it didn't, and the charger at home never brought the battery back to life either.

So......if you are riding local and can get a set of the small jumper cables for motorcycles - you might want to just keep the battery and see how long it will last.  If you are planning a trip to Alaska....better buy a battery 6 months before you leave and give it a good test before you leave.

That's exactly the answer I expected to hear...unfortunately. I know batteries can be a little finnicky at times. I have a tender that I use every week or so if I haven't been riding and it tops it off to a fully charged state in less than 5 minutes so I guess I'll take my chances for now.

BTW, I don't plan any trips to Alaska anytime soon...unless the rest of you guys wanna go!  Grin

Batteries are fickle as weathervanes . Some don't last the warranty, some give years of service and survive abuse..
