Thanks for info. Most of the time I do sit on the bike while warming it up. I like to think that I can tell when it's ready by the virbrations. That's what I tell myself anyway  
Once I feel the engine is good to go I kick up the stand and put it in gear. This is my usual routine. Sometimes I do give the bike a pre-ride inspection while it is on the stand warming. that's going to stop now. I'll do that before I start it from now on.
