The disruption of supply lines to the store?

When I was in Bucharest airport in post-revolution Romania, the only food available was bread and apple puree.
The apple puree was actually Heinz baby food, probably sent to Romania by a charity and was meant for the orphanages.

I try not to buy food from the store/supermarkets for many reasons, mainly political.
Not giving money (or as little as possible) to Kraft/Nestle/Unilever or whatever the parent company is something good, in my opinion.

Funny enough, I've just spent the last hour in the garden harvesting.
Anything like rice, pulses, etc which I can't grow I get in 25kg sacks from a non-profit making local community food co-operative.

What I don't eat, I ferment.

(On a side note, gooseberries make the best sparkling white wine, and elderberries with a bit of fresh ginger root make a great red)

All in all, if Global warming/climate change is just a myth, or as 'The Donald' said, a hoax created by China, my garden won't suffer.

Permaculture is the way forward, no guns needed.

Yes, I do believe that society isn't as stable as some would believe, again, experience rather than theory.
I'd tell you about the time I stayed in a bombed out army barracks in the ex-Yugoslavia in the early '90s....during the Balkan war.
But no, you aren't interested in my experience of near anarchy in a society.

I would suggest that if society were to collapse because of an uprising or revolution, people would be shooting each other more than they'll be shooting an animal for food.

However, having said all that about guns, there is an awful lot of truth in the following scenario.

Stand in a locked room, the only thing in the room is a hungry rattlesnake and a loaded gun. Turn your back to both of them.

Which one might kill you on it's own and which one might save you if you pick it up?

Yes guns are designed to kill, but guns are tools.

I had this exchange with my local paper who ran their typically liberal nonsense after another killing that we need more gun control. I looked at the murder rates for my state county by county and compared to poverty rates and estimated gun ownership. The poorest counties with the highest gun ownership had the lowest gun crime rates.

It's not the guns per se, it's the culture. My suburb has 25,000 people and I'm guessing 20,000 guns. We've had zero gun crime that I can remember since I moved here 20 years ago.

No, I would say the majority of guns are designed to wound or kill people. I honestly don't know if the first guns were designed with military activities in mind or hunting.  ...

I would say, Hunting/Feeding was the first, then the potential, by military was discovered.
First, hunting/feeding/sport, a person, walked the field, with a trained falcon (or choice), on the arm. A bird flushed, or a rabbit ran, the trained Falcon, was released, caught the prey, and then brought it back.  Then a very crude, firearm was used, Much faster, (in it’s day).

.380 Bursa Thunder:   Yep  LOL, a P*S.

.270 Ruger:  Right load, and practiced with, one ‘could’ hit a snake in the azz every time at 100 yards.

A .44 old black powder gun: This one is very interesting. With the Right load and bullet, it Could, be very Accurate.
Just to many variables. Like saying, “my S-40 does not run”.
(If you want, send me a PM with a photo of it, and if you want, will make suggestions)

A Ruger .22: Could be a, Very Accurate firearm!  Buy 10 different boxes of .22 ammo.
Sit down at a bench, do short, (25 yards) Rested Comfortable, SAME, hold each time, Shoot, 20 rounds at 10 different targets, making sure you know which target is which ammo.   One of them, will have the, ‘best’ group.  Never-mind, if the, ‘group’ is Not on the, ‘bulleyesy’ of the target.  It is group Size only. You can Always adjust the sights later.
Now, get more, different brands of ammo, and using the ‘best’ one, from the first, ’test’, do the others.
This will be a on going,  process.   Hint, the best ammo, for a 22 handgun, would be something that does Not break the sound barrier.
(In the range of 1050-80 FPS.)   Remember the X-15, first to break the sound barrier, (On Purpose), Smooth ride, than very heavy vibration at the sound barrier, then after, smooth again.  Same thing happens with a bullet.

Sounds like a lot of work. But for some, a LOT better than, playing/watch Golf, Baseball, Bicycle races, And ALL, forms of Soccer !

Which is More TRUE, today, than yesterday.('06, S-40, Stock) well, mostly .

Oh no, you misunderstand. It's a great gun. Long distance? No way, a chest sized target from 25' feet? Every time. Low recoil but loud as hell. I can empty 2 clips of 6 shots in a few seconds. .380 is a perfect round I think. With a .45, unless you shoot everyday, the recoil from the first shot is a shock and the 2nd and 3rd shots are no where near the target. Doesn't matter what you shoot if you can't hit it.  Plus a .45 goes through walls like Swiss cheese, you'll take out half the neighbors. My Bursa is as reliable as hell, never jams. I would recommend one highly.

Quite likely correct. And I for one, don't intend to get shot on account of nor being able to shoot back if I can help it.

Hovis again:

Quote:
Was I wrong to say that guns are primarily designed to kill or wound people?

No, you are correct again. But you don't seem to understand that, unfortunately, there are always going to be people that need to be shot and "killed or wounded" for one reason or another.

People are not always Willing participants. It's not uncommon for half of the two people in a gunfight to Not want to be involved. Sometimes, others make our minds up for us. Being unarmed in a gunfight is rarely smart.

You're not that stupid, are you?

Just admit that you stepped in it.
What part of

I'm DONE with your childish antics. You have been out maneuvered and schooled. Own it.

"You have been out maneuvered and schooled."

Oh, it's the teacher again!

I can't say that I've been (or at least the group I was with) fired at in a conflict zone before.
I would, but you'd just mention Hillary's BS on that subject.
I didn't have a weapon, only a broken camera.
Were those antics childish, or do I have to bring an apple for you tomorrow?

If you're happy being vulnerable, get after it. Don't expect me to agree.
The childish behavior is your ignoring my words, pretending that I didn't say something and goin on as if I didn't.
I'm DONE with your crap. You don't care about being honest. Just type more, pretending you made a point.
You should wash your hands, they smell like butt.
I handed you your ass.
