I check the CCTV...

Was I wrong to say that guns are primarily designed to kill or wound people?

'Yes' or 'No' will do.

Apparently the only way you can win is to set the parameters of the discussion so that there Is no discussion.
While killing people is not something I Want to do, it's possible that a situation could arise that makes it necessary.
Yes, guns are meant to kill. And they are also used in sport.
And to feed the family.

One application is kill.
And cops carry them. Are cops good guys?
Are they the only people in society who are of such high moral standards that They qualify as something just below a god and therefore, THEY should have guns, but the lowly serfs shouldn't?

And what would you do when someone is pounding on your door?

And YES, it happened to me Saturday night.
He would not have been allowed IN if I was unarmed.
So, MY gun changed His day.

It's not JUST the Gun.
It's the intent of Who has it.

Your question was about guns feeding the family.
Dealing with desperate for a point people is frustrating, because they stoop to such low levels. I'll Give you a point, when you earn it. So far, you're going backwards.

Yes, comparing fishing poles and screwdrivers to a gun is like, well.....
Saying if a person wants to restrict a minor, from getting an abortion, without parental consent, will force all women back into alleyways, to get this procedure done.....because it will be just the first step to outlaw it.

A fishing pole, like a gun, can feed the family. A stringer of fish, a deer,, it's not that hard to see. I guess for some it is..And that's why I spell it out.

I don't really consider you to be in a position to give out points....
You are not the teacher here (as has been pointed out by others recently).

Yes, my family starved to death because I didn't have a gun.
And no-one has ever been accidentally shot/killed in a hunting accident.

Still waiting for that 'yes or no' answer, though.

You're desperately trying to mold the argument so that you can feel like you won. Whether or not I KNEW that I would never need a gun for defense I would want one. It's Natural to be armed. Look back at history. And that lame argument that you have never been hungry,, So What? Where is the guarantee that you won't be hungry one day? Society isn't as stable as you seem to believe. Wouldn't take much to disrupt the supply lines of food to the store.

And, in your case, I will do it for  FREE !
Just send a RT airline ticket,  (Dec, Jan, Feb, would be great,
Make it 2-3 weeks between plane rides)

And I will come to YOUR house, and give the class, for  FREE !

Screwdrivers, Hammers, Wrenches.

Don’t know, about a ‘fishing pole’. Their are probably some cases, where one was used, in defense or offense.

But, ’screwdrivers’ mentioned.

In one of the talks I give, (and to, other other FST classes as well)

It starts out, with, two big handgun cases on the table.
Wait, for class to quiet down, and every has Big Eyes, because they anticipate, seeing lots of handguns, which most of them have not seen before.
I slowly, open a case, make a deal out of, picking up something, (They can not see inside the case), and pull out a rusty screwdriver.
Then ask, what is this?  Get Screwdriver as a answer.  Do the same with a hammer, and a big wrench.  (get the name of that item)

Then with those three things, laying on the table, ask, “Is their one word, that can describe, all three things?”
And I get, ’tools’.  Now I take out a ‘handgun’, lay it on the table, then ask: “Can this, handgun, also be described as being a, ’tool’”. Usually a pause, than a hand goes up, and the answer is, ‘Yes”.

Now go back to the screwdriver. “This is a screwdriver, If, is used it to, ’stab’ someone, could their be another name for it?”  (While holding it in a, ’stabbing’, way), pause, one or two hands timidly go up in the air, and someone says, (In more of a question, than a answer)  “ A weapon?”  Then on the the hammer/wrench, same thing.

Now, I pick up the handgun. and say:  “This is a handgun, it is used to punch holes in a piece of paper, it was bought new, and has done Nothing But, punch holes in a piece of paper, in fact it was designed to ONLY, punch holes in a piece of paper. But, it, ‘could’, be used for a different purpose, just like the hammer and screwdriver could, If that were so, then, and only then, it could be called by a different name, what would that name be”.  And many hands go up, and they say, weapon.

“So, do you think, a ‘firearm’, is a tool, Unless it has been used, as a weapon?”
And the answer is a resounding, ‘Yes”.

To Cumbersome to bring in a ladder, Darino/Vanish, pool of water, or ‘ark’ a striped electric cord, which Each ONE of those alone, KILLS more people in accidents, than any firearm has ever done.

Then go on to show, the rest of the firearms, and ask/explain the actions, and sub actions, and how to recognize each one, by just looking at it, and to KNOW, how to safely UN-Load it.

But I guess, in a country, where one cannot have/carry, a ‘handgun’, If one carried a ’screwdriver’, walking down a dark street, late at night, in a dubious part of town, and a, ‘Bobbie’, stopped you.  The answer would be:  “Hey it’s ONLY, a Screwdriver”.

What ever you want ! “…  I will refer to you as a ‘bullsh1tter’… “,
Don’t care.
“ … I did actually write a long post about my experience of the Thatcher era, but gremlins had their way…”
  Such a ‘Convent’, occurrence.

Was it me, you referred to as, ‘gone for 6 months’.
No, Just did Not post on the TT for much less than that.

And you DID, say I teach kids to KILL.
I, did not say, I taught them how to handle a, ‘machine gun’.
Their are Many more skilled people that do that.
Those people, that teach such a class, Have and USE, ‘machine guns’.
I do not.
And I have, things to do, so I can pay for people, that, do NOT.
So not going to take time, to look up a post, where I know, what you said.

And I was unaware, you had a copy of my IP address, and Passwords.
So you know, all the communications, I make.

Again, you just go ahead and call me anything you want.
Don’t care.  If it makes you feel good, go ahead.

I, call you a, ’Troll’, after much deliberation,

No, I would say the majority of guns are designed to wound or kill people. I honestly don't know if the first guns were designed with military activities in mind or hunting. Regardless, anything that fires a projectile at a high rate of speed could would or kill a person so all guns by that definition are 'designed' to kill.

I have four.

A Ruger .22 which while it could kill, is a squirrel / small game rifle and empty beer cans.

A .44 old black powder gun. Original design was to shoot a people. Despite what the movies might show, you can't hit crap with it.

.380 Bursa Thunder. To shoot people. With a 2.5" barrel, you're lucky to hit a Frisbee at 50'.

.270 Ruger To kill deer and game like that. Holy crap, the muzzle velocity on that gun is crazy fast.
