Carb-heads........

Looking for some insight into carbs.

I have 3 carbs on my Suzuki outboard.
Each serves its own cylinder.
The bottom one is what I will call the primary.
It has the idle adjuster on it.
It was leaking I noticed yesterday from the bowl drain, a steady drip, drip, drip.
It was hard to get to, but I did.
I know it's hard to answer questions in a general sense, without knowing the exact situation, but I was hoping for some suggestions, knowledge, etc.
It was running crummy at times at low speed/ idle, no throttle.
I thought if I advance the rpm, that might help, but I got a lean sneeze instead. Also, after running, GREAT, then sitting for a spell, it would often be stubborn to restart again, was this because the bowl had drained?

Thanks for any lesson you can lend me  Grin

Stuck float, leaky float, stuck float needle... you get the idea...

Fix the float problem,.. this stuff may go away... may not,.. but, problems usually come one at a time

On some carbs, where we would have a drain, they have an overflow.
So check again.

Boats and crappy running.
My first question is fuel. If the fuel is starting to show layers, it's gone to crap, absorbed water and is junk.
Get fresh gas, hook up, purge the bowls, see what happens.
Unless you Know the gas is good.

How long did it sit.?
How did this condition present itself?
Quick? Just started the engines recently and it was running poorly?

Are all three motors running equally crappy?
If so, isn't the One Common Element the Fuel?

New gas, and no float issue.
I pulled all three and cleaned them last year.
I forgot to seat that drain screw until after I put them all back. The top two are easy to get at, the bottom one, well no bueno.
The leak is fixed, of that I am certain, I was just trying to figure out if and what it might have contributed to the poor running, well dying, at lowest throttle in gear/under power.

My setting the rom's up seemed to make another problem, so more gas is not the answer it seems

I know poor fuel connections, cracks in fuel line, etc, can really cause poor performance, I was just wondering if the bowl leaking out, not too much fuel, but not enough, would add to that equation.....
I am thinking its a contributing factor, but don't know why  Embarrassed
