dyna muffler query
08/03/16 at 03:27:09

awright... so I found this on ebay, are these the correct dyna mufflers, they appear to be what I've seen recommended here but I have just discovered that Dyna refers to very many harley's. http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/OEM-65747-94-Harley-Davidson-80-dB-Stock-Mufflers-...

They do not seem as cheap and plentiful in Australia as in the US so even at $100 shipping it would be worth it. Especially if I could split this item with someone else in Australia

Yep, those look like the stock Dyna mufflers to me. Put one on my bike a few months ago.  You can compare with the below link for further reference and some other members may be able to validate the part number for you, before you pay some crazy shipping costs.

Per the existing tech section post, one user states that "The Dyna muffler with rail that bolts directly on our Savage is HD  65747-94" which seems to be the ones in your fleabay post. Visually they look correct to me and also have the rail mount which is the easiest direct swap to our muffler mount versus the other types of mounts.

Follow the instructions in the tech section (posted by McWj also) on mounting and you should be good to go.

If they are stock you shouldn't be able to look in the end and see threw them ,if you can the center baffle has been removed. they can be restored by driving a 11/2 " freeze plug to the center of the muffler, you'll need this to restore some back pressure to tune your carb.             (see dave below)

OK thanks for all the replies. These things are so freaking expensive here, I'd have to pay $500, even though where I live is full of harley's with most of them putting on those stupid house shaking pipes, so these removed mufflers must be going somewhere but I can't see them.

I'll get the seller to have a look through the pipes.

If I can get them for less than $200 AUD with shipping then it looks like I'll be ordering these and there'll surely be one up for sale shortly after.

Have you been to visit the shop that installs the stupi loud pipes?
Have you placed a WTB ad anywhere?
Ask someone who Has aftermarket exhaust what they did with the OEM.

I think a hundred bucks to haul a package from Canada to Australia is the pretty cheap. I couldn't do it for that.

Okie dokie thanks for the useful replies. There's less than 2 days left with no bids and as I'm not in a rush for this, if it goes for not much I guess that indicates the state of play in the US for these items, meaning it would not be difficult to pick up.

Unless there's someone in Australia right now who wants to split this?
