Has anyone installed one recently?

Were you able to use the stock light housing or did you need to find something else?  

Any and all recommendations, please!

After reading up a bit, I am not sure if it's worth the extra effort to go HID.  My bike is a 98 and I'm imagining that it's the original H4 bulb.  Am I better off picking up a high quality H4 bulb to see if that is better than the one I have?
