Spark Plugs

Was going to get a new plug, and I can't get this link to work.  Tried a quick search and can't put my hands on the info either.

Anyone have the short list of plugs that are recommended for us?
Thanks!

I don't have the full list - here is what I use.

For the standard plug....NGK DPR8EA-9

The Iridium version.....NGK DPR8EIX-9

The Iridium most likely doesn't make any more HP - but is likely to last longer as the electrodes don't wear/erode as quickly.

Dave, this bike better take off like a top fuel dragster with the new iridium plug!  I had to hit 4 auto parts stores before finding this thing in stock.  Seriously!  Don't think am super nutso, I live in a rather condensed area with probably 10+ stores within a 5 mile radius so it wasn't a big deal...but I wanted what I wanted  Shocked

I don't believe in supposed "high performance" plugs. Copper is a great conductor and is the standard plug. I stick with it. Besides, they're cheaper.

The Iridium doesn't promise any performance gains - but the electrodes don't wear away.....and they last just about forever.  I have taken them out of my fuel injected cars at 80,000 miles....and they look just like the new ones.

The Iridium plug is a better plug than the less expensive standard one...but the standard one does work fine.

Kris:

It could be that Platinum and Iridium aren't as good as Copper plugs for conductivity....maybe the modern pointless, distributorless electronic systems don't really care as they produce plenty of spark.  The old points/condenser, distributor, long spaghetti spark systems might do better with the copper.

The links you posted seem like most oil threads.....lots of opinion and no testing results.  I really don't think the Savage really cares which plug you use.

We will run Stewmills around TN/NC this Saturday and see if he notices any ups or downs to the change to an Iridium plug.

I think you're right. Our engine is just too primitive to care one way or the other.
