Works for me

http://www.rense.com/general96/guncontrolfx.htm

Really takes some steam out of the already lame arguments.

There are 30,000 gun related deaths per year by firearms.  That is not disputed.
What is never shown, though, is a breakdown of those deaths to put them in perspective, as compared to other causes of death.

•    65% of those deaths are by suicide, which would never be prevented by gun laws
•    15% are by law enforcement in the line of duty and mostly justified
•    17% are through criminal activity, gang and drug related or mentally ill persons
•    3% are accidental discharge deaths

So technically, "gun violence" is not 30,000 annually, but drops to 5,100 (0.17 x 30,000).

Still too many?  Well, first, how are those deaths spanned across the nation?
•    480 homicides (9.4%) were in Chicago
•    344 homicides (6.7%) were in Baltimore
•    333 homicides (6.5%) were in Detroit
•    119 homicides (2.3%) were in Washington DC (a 54% increase over prior years)

So basically, 25% of all gun crime happens in just 4 cities.  All 4 of those cities have strict gun laws, so it is not the lack of law that is the root cause.
This basically leaves 3,825 for the entire rest of the nation or about 75 per state. That is an average because some states have much higher rates than others.
For example, California had 1,169 and Alabama had 1.

Now, who has the strictest gun laws by far?  California, of course, but understand, it is not the tool (guns) driving this.  It is a crime rate spawned by the number of criminal persons residing in those cities and states. So, if all cities and states are not created equal, then there must be something other than the tool causing the gun deaths.

Are 5,100 deaths per year horrific? How about in comparison to other deaths?

All death is sad and especially so when it is in the commission of a crime, but that is the nature of crime.  Robbery, death, rape, assault; all are done by criminals to victims and thinking that criminals will obey laws is ludicrous. That's why they are criminals.

But what of other deaths?
•    40,000+ die from a drug overdose THERE IS NO EXCUSE FOR THAT!
·    36,000 people die per year from the flu, far exceeding the criminal gun deaths
•    34,000 people die per year in traffic fatalities (exceeding gun deaths, even if you include suicide)

Now it gets good

200,000+ people die each year (and growing) from preventable medical malpractice.
•   You are safer in Chicago than you are in a hospital!
•   710,000 people die per year from heart disease.  Time to stop the cheeseburgers!

So what is the point?  If Obama and the anti-gun movement focused their attention on heart disease, even a 10% decrease would save twice the lives annually of all gun related deaths (including suicide, law enforcement, etc.).

A 10% reduction in malpractice would be 66% of the total gun deaths or 4 times the number of criminal homicides.  Simple, easily preventable 10% reductions!  So you have to ask yourself, in the grand scheme of things, why the focus on guns? - See more at: http://www.rense.com/general96/guncontrolfx.htm#sthash.n7KFcCDJ.dpuf

Wisconsin Dems move to ban most semi-auto firearms in a big way
From the article:
Wisconsin has relatively low rates of homicides tied to firearms. When contrasted to Maryland – which has a similar population and chalked up 268 gun homicides in 2013 – Wisconsin suffered 103. Of those, just six were attributed to rifles.

deaths from DUIs...

Alcohol-related crashes killed 223 people in Wisconsin and injured nearly 3,000 in 2012.
Approximately, 36 percent of all fatal traffic crashes in Wisconsin in 2012 were alcohol-related.
In 2012, 33 percent of all fatal motorcycle crashes in Wisconsin were alcohol-related.

deaths from heart disease...

In 2005, more than 34% of all Wisconsin deaths (15,892) were due to cardiovascular disease. This included 7,608 deaths due to coronary (ischemic) heart disease, 1,440 deaths due to congestive heart failure, and 2,952 deaths due to stroke. CVD is the leading cause of death among men and women of all racial and ethnic groups. Based on 2005 data, CVD causes more deaths annually than cancer, AIDS, automobile crashes, domestic abuse and alcohol abuse combined.

Deaths from tobacco...

During 2008-2012, an estimated 6,678 people died from illnesses directly related to smoking each year,
constituting nearly 15% of all a
nnual deaths in Wisconsin among pe
rsons aged 35 years and older.
Another 678 people died from illnesses and fires
indirectly related to
smoking. Collectively, 7,356
Wisconsin deaths were associated with tobacco us
e each year. The annual economic toll of tobacco in
Wisconsin was approximately $3.0 billion paid in di
rect health care costs and $1.6 billion in lost
productivity.

People struck by lightning...

State - number of deaths - ranking
Wisconsin - 12 - 28

Lightning Fatalities, Injuries, and Damage Reports in the United States - National Lightning Safety Institute

IF you really cared about people wouldn't you attack the heavy hitters? Let's imagine a hypothetical situation where you could save 1% of people.

1% of 6 people is .06
1% of 223 people is 2.23
1% of 15892 is 158.92
1% of 6678 is 66.78
1% of 12 is .12

Statistically speaking, your best bet, IF YOUR TRUE AGENDA WAS SAVING PEOPLE'S LIVES, would be to address heart disease in Wisconsin. Judging from the picture of the no-neck fat pig, Lisa Subeck (D.) she would benefit from a salad.

As Rush Limbaugh pointed out years ago, Democrats don't want to solve gun violence, they want the issue to stick around so they can use it like a hammer.

That would require honesty... And the Agenda is Not about saving lives. It's about CONTROL. Under the Guise of
Making us safe.
Nobody LOVES someone for saving them from a heart attack.
But, if you can con someone into believing that you have made their and their children's lives safe from the Near Certain death by shooting, well, NOW they Loves Ya,,

Volusia Riders. My above post was a copy-pasta from VR which addressed real issues in Wisconsin.
