First step: Not at lunch
06/08/16 at 06:59:52

Wait till after school, go to the front gate.
Unexpectedly, the crowd grew,,
Can't be having This!
Off school property, down the sidewalk with you troublemakers!

Still not good enough,,

Ahhh that's progress,,  Why won't God fearing, freedom loving people Just LEARN?

School Calls Sheriff to Stop 7-Year-Old From Handing Out Bible Verses
Jun 2, 2016

Liberty Counsel has demanded that Desert Rose Elementary School correct an outrageous violation of a first grader’s constitutional rights. The situation started with an encouraging note and Bible verse from mom Christina Zavala, tucked into a packed lunch for her little boy ("C"). The seven-year-old boy read the note and verse, and showed them to his friends during lunch time at school.

Mrs. Zavala’s daily note for her son soon turned into an expectation by the other children during lunch, who excitedly begged C for copies of the notes, which grew to include short stories from the Bible to provide context for the verses.

However, when one little girl said "teacher - this is the most beautiful story I’ve ever seen," "separation of church and state" was the response, and the notes were banned from lunchtime distribution. C was told that the school gate was the only location at which he could give the Bible verses to his friends, and only after the bell rang.

On April 19, 2016, Mrs. Zavala wrote the school to correct its misinformation, but the only response was  that C was reprimanded again, in front of the whole class, and again told to stop talking about religion or sharing his mother’s notes. C returned home in tears.

The Zavalas and C complied with the school gate directive, and soon, as many as 15 fellow students looked forward to the after-school Bible notes. However, on May 9, 2016, Principal Melanie Pagliaro approached Mr. Zavala at that location, and demanded that C only hand out the notes on a public sidewalk, far from the exit, off school property. The family immediately complied.

Later that day, however, a Los Angeles Deputy Sheriff knocked at the door of C's home, demanding that C's note sharing cease altogether because "someone might be offended." C’s family then asked Liberty Counsel to help protect their child's constitutional freedoms.

This is a clear, gross violation of the rights of a child. That the school district enlisted a police officer to intimidate C and his family makes this case even more outrageous. "I would expect something like this to happen in Communist Romania, where I went to elementary school, but cops don't bully 7-year-olds who want to talk about Jesus in the Land of the Free"said Horatio "Harry" Mihet, Esq., Vice President of Legal Affairs & Chief Litigation Counsel of Liberty Counsel.

I wonder how many will pretend that the
Wall of separation between church and state
Protects the state from having to allow religious freedom in PUBLIC places...

Desperation isn't attractive. That's not even a good dodge. At least you are staying predictable.

Okay,.. you twisted my arm...

Freedom of speech/religion... the kid is legally free to annoy the sh!t out of me,.. but not on public school grounds...

... but, my concern is, who has put this kid up to this?...
Handing Out Bible Verses is not a 7 year old behaviour...
Putting a child in the position of being ridiculed to inflate a parents sense of righteousness, is bad parenting...
Leave the kid to be kid...
Let see the parents say it to my face so I can tell them where to shove it...

This is incredible.
When I was in HS, they allowed bible study.  I forgotten whether it was lunch time or free period... don't remember ever having a free period.
Basically, it was a club.  And yes, it was an issue previously.  But
Now these kids are asking for the handouts during lunch.
So are these SOB's gonna have a sh!tfit if he's prays before eating?
and if the table joins in?

Not endorsing a particular religion does not mean absence of.

I worked at a community college for near 10 years.
At least once or twice a week, I would be approached by one religilous nut or another, proselytizing Jesus or Jehovah or Buddha, or the Mormon Tabernacle whatever, and shoving unwanted literature in my face...
... until the school finally put stop to it...

My favourite was when they would ask if I knew Jesus,... and I'd say "Sure, he works down in shipping... You can take the elevator"...
Grin...

Keep your god to yourself... when is the last time you had an atheist accost you with literature and tell you you're going to hell?...

School is for educating, not dumbing down...

Here's a little verse from the magic man in the sky to put in your lunchbox...
"If you eat that pizza, I will put you in a dungeon and light you on fire where you will burn forever in darkness..." - God...

Bot, you have a choice, let it bother you or not.  go look to your safe space.

Taking the story at its face value, the kids had a choice, to sit at that table or not.  to read the slip of paper or pass it on.  to ask for their own or not.

The point here is not what the kid is doing,... it's what the school opens itself up to by allowing it...
Allowing this one thing here in this one place can open a can of worms.

What if a group of Muslim kids start reciting the Koran and passing around literature every lunch break?...
If you allow the one, you must allow the other...

Keep God in the church or at home... school is for learning...

but not on public school grounds

HE is the Public and Owns that place, too.
The Kids, had you read it, WENT to Him to enjoy reading together.

e First Amendment (Amendment I) to the United States Constitution prohibits the making of any law respecting an establishment of religion, impeding the free exercise of religion, abridging the freedom of speech, infringing on the freedom of the press, interfering with the right to peaceably assemble, or prohibiting ...

, impeding the free exercise of religion,

Do I need to get the definition of impede for you?

And I will happily accept the opportunity to get told where to shove it.

SO Much evidence of a Creator.

If I have a choice to join their table or not, then they have every right to.

If they are running around shoving pamphlets in my lowered hand, then they are not.

You are quite free to run around, babbling to yourself with your fingers in your ears if you wish.

They have every right to, period.
Atheists are free to explain why they don't believe, anywhere, anytime to anyone. I turn to walk away, they grab me, I defend.
Anyone have a real need to explain?
