1987 LS650 Rewiring and repair project.
06/05/16 at 11:07:18

I ended up buying this as my first bike from a friend who got tired of trying to rewire it. He bought a harness and started putting it together using bullet disconnects. I managed to print the wiring diagram at the shop where I work.

Sadly I haven't begun learning electrical in my trade yet and have only done basic wiring around the house; so I'm still trying to understand the schematic. I've never worked on bikes before, so I'm giving myself as much time as possible to learn how to maintain it. I did test the battery and it's holding at 12.7 volts, so at least the battery is good. I'm going to switch out the tail lights, seat, foot pegs and handle bars, other than that I only plan to restore the bike to good working order.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!! you should buy a Clymer"s manual ,25-30 bucks but will help you make any repairs yourself ,saving you TONS of money.(it has wiring diagrams  in the back they are different depending on the year.)

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
