Cut a washer, with just a bit smaller outside dia. than the rubber gasket in your cap,out of the side of a gallon milk jug. Flip your rubber gasket over place the plastic washer between the gasket and your cap .IT's the perfect thickness, you'll feel a light resistance when you replace the  cap,and have a repair that only cost a bit of your time.(MacGyer it)
