Replacement Seat Cover?
05/20/16 at 09:56:57

The seat on my Savage has a split at one of the seams.  I'd like to recover it, but I'm not really liking the options I've found so far.  Most of the ones I've found don't show a pic of the Savage seat, just a stock photo of a seat for a different bike.

There are a few on ebay, but no photos of the actual Savage seat.  Motorcycle Superstore has a Saddleman cover with mixed reviews and again, not photos of the Savage seat.

What's a good choice for fixing my seat?

I got a replacement cover for my Virago off of ebay that was an excellent replica of the original and had a local upholstery guy install it.  I was having issues with it.  That was cheaper than having the local place make one.

The seat on the Savage is simpler than the Virago seat though, so I can check locally.  It's just that I have recovered several bike seats myself in the past with inexpensive covers with great results.  I was hoping for a similar option for the Savage.

A Harley Davidson Sportster seat will fit and is a much better seat.

I need either a stock looking one to match the passenger seat, or both so they match. It's a '96 with a 2 piece seat and a back rest. The backrest is an aftermarket cushion, so something that matched that would be cool.  Just matching seats will work though.

Is the sportster seat bolt on? What years and models will fit a '96?  That will probably be the best way to go.

Thanks, I found that mod just after that last post.

Not sure I feel like putting that much effort into it and I'd rather keep it stock.  The Savage is one of 3 bikes and the least ridden.  I'm fixing it up and if no one is going to ride it, I'm going to sell it.   One of my roommates wants to ride it, but hasn't gotten his permit, and doesn't actually ride it.  I have to ride it once in a while just to keep it running right.

Thanks for the advice and offers. I ended up taking both the front and passenger seats to a local guy.  I'll find out soon how it turns out.
