Don't try this at home
You need special tools

Yeah,, a six inch pocket ruler..

Disconnected the battery for ten seconds, shorted the power button and cleaned contacts.

It's working great now..

Yup, I google it or you tube it..... if it needs to be done, someone has done it and wants you to see how they do it...
I have been videoing stuff randomly for a while now so I could remember where stuff goes, then realized that some folks just like to see how other folks do stuff, so I started putting my stuff up on you tube.
Yeah, some of it is random senseless video.... but hey... if the internets is always going to be there.... i'm immortal!~ Smiley

If it's on FB, it's forever.
I'm so grateful for the people who post the
How to
stuff. I've replaced the half shaft on my car, rear wheel bearings on a friend's explorer.. I'm not able to remember what all I've watched and then gone and done.

Arright, I dunno what I did, and that's okay. I have taken copiers that wouldn't copy apart, hunting for the problem, couldn't find anything, put it back together, It LIVES! It's Alive!

Anyway, this thing is just plain Better.. I did clean the contacts on the power button, great design, BTW, and it's very responsive, hasn't locked up, and all I did was d/con the battery for ten seconds. It didn't lose anything or go back to factory settings, not a problem.

Justin,

Now that you have disassembled a Kindle do you think it is possible to spray a little Contact Cleaner in the switch with out taking the Kindle apart.

My kindle is 4 or 5 years old and still functioning as advertised.

No, I doubt it would get where you want it and it would get places where you might not want it.

I sure wouldn't be messing with it unnecessarily. It's not hard, really, especially if you have popped plastic cases open on other things. The clips are much the same. I'm sure you have no intention of it. The video is worth watching, if only to see the Battery! It's very thin and covers the whole back basically. These things are packed tight, like a wristwatch.
