Unsightly Clutch Sidecase
02/27/16 at 14:18:52

Did the 2004 model come with some type of engine sidecase external coating? My clutch side case has the remainder of a very tough film that looks like acid had run down the surface, making for an unsightly appearing case. I have tried goop off, paint stripper to no avail. Metal tools won't work (scratches) so my thumb nail works but after an hour of scraping I am only about 1/3 done. Any idea what this stuff is and how to remove it? It reminds me of the film that covers a new computer screen when you take it out of the box but someone forgot to remove it before riding the bike.

I guess the '04s had the black "painted" engine then?

There's no problem that a full tank of gas and a sunny day can't fix!
