Perhaps my comments were a bit misleading. If your rim requires a tube - you need to use a tube. It is fine to put a tire marked "TUBELESS" on a spoked rim and use a tube......you really don't have a choice. Most of us who ride Savages are using Tubeless tires on spoked rims with tubes.
The problem with a tire/tube combination - is that when punctured a tube can deflate quickly and with little or no warning. It doesn't happen often - but it can be very dangerous when it does. I have friend who had a front tire "blow out" on his vintage Ducati. The front tire deflated instantly and he lost his ability to brake or steer, and the bike went down and it broke his hand when it hit the pavement...he didn't even have time to let go of the hand grip on the way down.
My Savage has spoked wheels and tubeless tires if various brands over the years - so far no flats or punctures.
I have had 2 punctures while riding my other bikes with tubeless tires and cast rims - thankfully they have Tire Pressure Monitors and I was alerted of the pressure drop. I have a portable air compressor and was able to air them back up and make it home.
Enjoy your Shinko tires - they are very nice and affordable tires!
