Reverse polarity battery?
08/31/15 at 17:53:25
I had to replace 2 "D" batteries this afternoon. One was fine at 1.3V. The other showed -1.05V. I had the terminals on the multimeter set correctly. The battery somehow reversed it's polarity. Any idea how or why? Ever seen this happen before?

I've seen it happen with NiCad rechargeables if they're drained too far before recharging.

That dang polarity changing seems to be something that is starting to invade all parts of life. Hang onto that thing.

Battery got mixed up with another shipment destined for the alternate anti-matter universe. Discard with care..

Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut between the seat and the handlebars. Make sure yours isn't too tight or too loose.

I poked around for a few minutes.....and this explanation sounds plausible.
One battery discharged and ran out of power - while the other battery still had power and proceeded to use the available power to charge the dead battery in the wrong direction. For this to occur however.....the equipment needs to be left in the "ON" position while the process occurs - and in a flashlight it would be from leaving the switch "ON" long after the bulb stopped making any light.

Somebody, somewhere is dumb enough to buy this thing thinking it's a rarity or something special. Ebay here I come!
