Because of the fact, you are from a different Country,
you may not be familiar with,
Common, phrases, in the US.

(Thought you would be, as I can read T. Hardy,
whose, 'prose', was not, 'like today's')

The Phrase has Nothing to do with talking Snakes,
or talking Deer, Rabbits, Fox, Squirrels, Bear, Fish,  or even a, ‘sponge’, etc.

The Phrase is:
“ Tough Ti**y, said the Kiddy “
And it is commonly used, in place of,
“ Tough S&*% “

As to Commas.
You, don’t like the way, I, compose a, ‘internet’, post?

(Pick, one of the top, two, phrases)

Of course I do understand, a difference, in language.
first time in the UK, (Great Yarmouth), in a, ‘Pub’.
I asked: ‘Where is the, Bathroom”.  I got a, ‘UH”,
than I asked for the restroom, the toilet, the head, the pixxer, all responses were, ‘UH”.

Then I heard a person, at another table, say:
“I’m bonna hot the LOO”,
I followed with my eyes, saw where he went, and when he came back I went the same way.
And I, ‘found’,  the,  ‘LOO”.

As for Political posts:
You stating something on, 'why', you think, a certain person would, or would not, make a good, POTUS.
Is the Same, as me, commenting on who would make a good, P.M., for you.

Which brings me to another point.
Margret Thatcher, in many circles here, (in the USA),
is rather highly thought of, as a excellent leader.

You, 'alluded' to, she was not.

Why do you think so ?

Ben Franklin once said: "If you give up a freedom, for the sake of security, you will have neither".
Which is More TRUE, today, than yesterday.('06, S-40, Stock) well, mostly .

Okay, point by point.

I'm very familiar with 'Americanisms' in the language because of music, TV, cinema, and the internet.
A dry sense of humour doesn't swim across the Atlantic so easily, maybe.

William Burroughs (for example) whose prosaic style is relatively modern as compared to Hardy, is harder to read...
So, I hoped you liked the Hardy novel, but it's relevance I question.

Commas. My tongue-in-cheek comment was not meant to offend, but to point out that by trying to over-emphasize a point by using (commas, bold, italics, font size) the point becomes under-emphasized because it's a lot harder to read as prose.

This is entirely different to using alternative words for things.
And “I’m bonna hot the LOO” was probably "I'm gonna hop to the loo"

I can't say I'm aware of posting much about internal US politics that isn't valid from a european/world perspective.
I've certainly never suggested who should be president, or who people should vote for. (Although I've pointed out the idiocy of a candidate).

Thatcher will have to wait for a later post  Wink
