Battery Question
07/28/15 at 20:18:46

Why is the Big Crank ETX15L Battery recommended by O'reilly, Autozone, and napa if the terminals don't match up with the connectors? Did I miss something when trying to connect. It seemed to be a 1/4" larger than the connector.

I took it back and received one where I had to add the acid to it. I followed all instructions and it didn't read anything when I put the voltmeter on it.

Any ideas?

hook it up to a trickle charger, preferably not a battery tender type. let it sit overnight.  Check it again in the am.

I took it to o'reilly and had them charge it for me. I asked the guy if it read anything and he just shrugged his shoulders and said probably. The only charger I have runs at 4 amps and the instructions say to not go over 2. Could it just be a dud?

man you got a bad oreillys.

if you got a volt meter and it says it got nothin, take it back.
if you don't got a vom, go to HF and get 1 they're cheap.

if the Big Crank ETX15L fit in the box, it's the right one.

did you put the terminals to the rear of the bike?
negative on the left and positive to the opening?

The terminal is bigger than the connector and I had no chance of getting it on there. Thus then giving me a battery that ib had to fill and haven't got any trading with the voltmeter. I'm thinking I'll just get a refund and shop with a different store.

I put a Duralast Gold Powersport battery in my 2003 Savage.$80, 20 Ah, 220 CCA, sealed/maintenance free. Battery fits in the holder perfectly, but the terminals are a bit wider than our original lead-acid type.

I just bent one of the "tabs" on the Savage's terminals so it would lay flat on the battery. Still has one downward tab to stop it from rotating.

Improvise, Adapt, Overcome.
