Regulator/Rectifier and Stator ok, still no charge
05/30/15 at 17:30:39

I changed the stator because the old one was shorted to ground. I tested the R/R and it's fine. The bike had been out of use for about three months and i think the battery might need to be replaced now. I charged the battery at 2A for a few hours but it only got to about 12 volts and i was kind of in a hurry so I jumpstarted it. With the engine running it only reads about 12V and there's no variation in voltage if i rev it. To me it looks like its not charging. But since the battery might be bad, here's my question:

Even with a bad battery, should the voltage with engine running still be about 14V or is it normal for it to seem like it's not charging because of the bad battery? I hope that makes sense. Like I said, the stator is new and the R/R is good so I don't really know where to go from here. I'd appreciate anyone's comments.

I think it should still show an increase in voltage 14+ volts dc...

Test you stator output... Remember to set meter to ac volts...
Here's a video...

Thanks, it's showing about 12.3V now with engine idling. Stator output shows between 6V and 8V  Undecided

EDIT:
With engine off it still shows about 11.85... I guess it's kind of charging but the stator output voltage, I dunno what it should read with engine running, but that's way low, right? 6 - 8 ACV?

It should show a little over 100vac at 4000 rpm.

Alright, so i left the battery charging overnight and i still needed to jumpstart this morning so, I definitely need a new battery.

With the engine running, i disconnected one of the battery terminals. The engine struggled for bit to stay running but died after a few seconds. It should have stayed running right? so what now?
