I will nominate Solomon. By today's standard of success, he was the pinnacle, yet came to the understanding of vanity.

Your candidate?

Solomon didn't realize his vanity until the end of his life. Ecclesiastes probably wasn't written until the end of his life after he had destroyed his Kingdom.

I do not believe there is anyone is a high position of power who is honest in the sense he is truthful when asked questions. In fact, you can argue you do not want a truthful person in power because they can be exploited. The world is full of evil people looking for a weakness so they can attack.
Remember this truism: Evil always recognizes when it's in the presence of Good and, embarrassed by it's only shortcomings, Evil lashes out in an attempt to bring Good down to it's level.
Good, on the other hand, does not always recognize Evil and can be manipulated.

Yes, that is my point webby. The man having attained wealth and power through a blessing of knowledge, came to question it as he, having attained so much, knew it was not sustainable.

Consider this, has ever a man since, not wrestled to maintain (and expand) their wealth at the cost of compromising?

I think one could find those, such as Jesus, who didn't have wealth, but he certainly had power and influence, not compromising....

I am sure more exist, but we don't herald them, as we worship money and idolize them more than any other entity.....

Honesty is overrated...
I can't tell you how many times I've said, "Nice bike, Dude"...

It would still only trickle,
And that is the way that I flow......
Now give me a dollar,
That'll make me holler....
For that price I'll even slice up your pickle
