I was in Orange County where there is a duty to inform law in place. Needless to say he was very uncomfortable and called for backup. Had to go thru a huge ordeal and took about an hour over not using turn signals to change lanes (it's a bobber and doesn't have any.)
Tried to explain to him why on earth would I inform you I have a CCW and the gun on me if I planned on doing something stupid. I pretty much interrupted his opening speach to let him know I was carrying.

Now read this as a European who doesn't understand your abbreviations...
Try having a California CounterClockWise (stupid [blonde playing]hard to get) riding a motorcycle and wearing a patched vest [you mean it was torn and you had to sew it up?] (british policeman on the beat with a tape ruler... Radio Controlled here in SoCal) I assume CCW is a "permit for concealed carry of weapons"... which is the oNLY way you are allowed to carry here in Europe, unless you are in the open countryside and are returning to your car after a hunt, with your shotgun slung over your shouldre and/or "broken open" (you know, when you have a double-barrel and you open it for safe carry)
I do realize you guys have an issue with outlaw MCs and "bad guys carrying" in general terms...
...which perhaps might be curbed if Federal and State laws demanded all purchases and private transactions of weapons and fundamental parts thereof to be registered with the State (just as you do with a car or motorcycle... it's just a simple statement saying "I hereby do declare I have bought/sold such&such serial no. to ...)
Similarly, if Federal and State laws demand you pass a driving test to drive, why shouldn't one pass a safety course for handling and shooting ? Fundamental to apply for a gun permit CCW or otherwise, without which you
cannot carry ?
It isn't a matter of "stripping" a citizen of his rights to the 2nd Amendment, any mnore than a driving license strips the same citizen of violating the Right to travel.
It would save the law abiding citizen of a LOT of hassle...
AND
"I only brake for Jesus" also helps... or...
Even the cops will smile ... (I hope...)
