K&L carb
03/16/15 at 15:43:03

is the economy carb rebuild kit any good ? got mine today looks good, but i will be pulling the carb and looking for the root cause of the airbox being full of fuel
so if i find something in the  carb that looks like it might have caused it would i be better off just using /keeping the installed oem parts? or just pop in the new parts? thanks eta 2009 stock s40 1900 miles

What year and mileage. Why do you need to rebuild the carb.

On this forum....if your thread is up a day or two and nobody responds by slamming a product....they either don't know the answer to your specific question - or they have never had a bad experience with that product.  Some folks may have use the product before....but don't remember whose carb kit they used.

Usually the best carb rebuild kit is a can of carb cleaner. Unless you need everything in the kit it's just all a big guess.

Here's what I suggest for a carb "kit".

- Can of carb cleaner. Get every orifice twice. Wear safety glasses. Follow-up with compressed air.
- Clean everything in a throw-away turkey pan. This way if parts try to run away they are contained in the pan.
- Replace all of the screws with cap bolts (I think they are M4x10 and M4x15)

Optional,
- Rejet if necessary (it's always good to have spare brass)
- Replace the float bowl gasket, but only if leaking
- Have some shims on hand
