From the looks of your garage....you don't have to worry about your engine corroding.  Spray the fogging oil in, make sure the engine is at TDC so the intake and exhaust valves are closed, and stuff a rag or something to cover the open intake and exhaust ports to keep dust and dirt out.

Then get on with the Cafe' conversion........

I didn't mean the "Get on with it" to be critical....it was meant to deter you from worrying about the engine in storage.  Some of these bikes sit in the crate or on the showroom floor for years before being run.  As long as there is no fuel in them and they are in a dry place.....they hold up well.

A friend and I built a sandblast cabinet from wood, and it worked well.  Be sure to have good lights inside, and a good vacuum or fan to pull the dust out - without the vacuum the inside of the cabinet can get so dusty you can't see anything.  Also be aware that even with a good vacuum the sandblaster will make a lot of dust floating around in the air.

Thanks Dave. When you built your cabinet did you design the bottom flat or tapered down with a small flap to empty the media? A flat bottom would be easier to build but a tapered easier to recycle the media.

The bottom was tapered.  It was identical to the expensive metal cabinets - but made of OSB plywood.  It did take up a lot of room - I built it with a friend and he kept it at his house.....and I went over to his place when I needed to use it.

I think that may have been a mild dig at Serow for not knowing what fogging oil was
some of us who are into all this stuff forget that not every human male over 16 is necessarily 'looped in' on this stuff
he likely likes to ask newbs at his local AP store for brake light fluid, too  Grin
