I had a 1971 SX650 in 1972-76 it was about as easy to like as the Savage.
First gear would wheelie and 5th was geared to top-out about 140 something (tucked low riding) --- a power stroke ending and starting on 90 degree intervals made it smooth. Fuel millage averaged +- 38mpg. wasn't so good. A buddy on a Triumph 650 (one carb) used less fuel and would leave me during a 5th gear roll-on , but I could down-shift and leave him anytime.
I love my S-40 and also the Savage I had before it .
