It looks like I probably wont' make it after all.  :'(

I wrecked the bike last week. I think it's ride-able except for a footpeg thats bent all to hell, but I haven't really been able to check it out.

My leg got injuried - no fractures - just to punctures and some road rash. I'm hobblin around the house but thats about it for right now.

Now the wife is bugging me to get rid of the bike. Love her, but love riding too.

If me and the bike are going by then - then I'll happily join y'all, but most likely not.

I can help you with the peg (you got a PM).
You got plenty of time to heal before April..
Your wife.. you is on your own..

Let's RIDE!

If it's just the peg - I oughta be able to fix that. I havent been able to check the bike though. The only other thing that might be wrong is a bent rim. I think its ok though.

Ill inspect the bike when I'm walking better. Right now I'm hobblin a little better each day. Hoping to go back to work next week.

My wife'll just have to be mad a little when I start riding again.

I aint never had an injury like this so I got no idea what the heal time should be. If you want to see some wound care a few days after its here - http://youtu.be/GHRoFAbt5Zg

It was the back thing that shortened my stay, had a good time with the guys though... can't wait till aug dragon run, wife is itching to ride the dragon... i'm concerned... hope she is up to it.

Back still bothers me (i'm supposed to get surgery this year, but keep putting it off), but i'm coming to the texas ride to get out of the house for a week....I needs me a break! LOL

got my sheidl mounted yesterday, now my bike's top speed is 75-80, at least when it's windy, but I'm ok with that, so long as I'm not fighting to not be blown off the bike lol
I think finally the saddle and gas tank will be more of a deciding facto in ride length than sore hip flexors
now waiting on oil filter (next time I get it from MCSS, they're much faster)

bring on da sisterz

Z I hope you feel better soon, and the damage is minor, sorry you had a getoff

I'm doing better every day. Little by little. Motivated to ride by April.

On bike speed - my video shows I aint a little guy - I get mine to peg out about 90mph with no trouble. I just always doubt the accuracy of the speedometer. If I do 70mph on the bike then a lot of traffic is passing me, but if I do 70mph in my pickup then I'm passing a lot of people. It should be the same no matter the vehicle. I have the small fly screen on my bike. Doesn't block everything but helps quite a bit

The S40 / savage speedo is about 10% optimistic from what I hear, so 90 might actually be 81
along with my new shield I also have a +1 sized rear tire (140/90) and that is supposed to correct the speedo inaccuracy, so I may be going nearly as fast, and the speedo is simply accurate now, where it was not, with the stock tire
Food for thought, I may not have lost any speed at all

These were taken 02/07/15.  Are you ready for some Hill Country improved road riding??   Tongue
Yeah.. Red Jacket, Yellow Helmet, yours truly.

Actually, there will not be any of those kind of roads on the "planned" rides.. except the dirty sister, for those that are so inclined.

Might have been slick.  Didn't stop and get off the bike to check.
My rules for water crossings:
1. Stay in the tire tracks.  Evil algae resides in the middle and edges, no matter how safe those areas look.
2. Watch the bike(s) ahead of you for clues on what is going on.
3. If you are first across (or alone), and in doubt, get off and check it out.
4. Keep head up, keep speed up, do not brake, do not steer.
5. Just do it.

The bike was filthy after that, so I took the opportunity to go down a favorite road of mine the next day.
And washed it when I got home.

Jim decided to tie the knot with his long time girlfriend.

One evening after the honeymoon, he was cleaning his motorbike.

His wife was standing there watching him. After a long period of silence she finally speaks.

"Honey, I've been thinking, now that we are married, I think it's time you quit riding. Maybe you should sell your bike".

Jim gets a horrified look on his face.

She says, "Darling, What's wrong?"

Jim says, "For a minute there, you were sounding like my ex-wife"

"EX WIFE!", she screams, "I didn't know you were married before!"

"I wasn't!", he replies.

I'd love to have a do-it-all bike ,  most of the "adventure bike" are heavier than I want to ride in the mud with.   So is there a bike that can run 75 on the interstate and still have a crawling gear for off road stuff without busting 350 lbs. ?

A 450cc size with a Low gear and a High gear ?

There are an awful lot of guys in love with the Kawasaki KLR650.  And Suzuki and Kawasaki shared a 400 bike....Kawasaki's version was a dual sport and the Suzuki version was more street oriented with smoother and smaller tires.
