Ohhh........ How I've been waiting for this one!
Maintenance on a Ducati isn't bad. Yearly oil change and 12,000 mile dealer service intervals.
What you should worry about is insurance. It can get pricey on the Ducs.
Almost pulled the trigger on a Diavel a couple weeks ago, insurance agent talked (shocked) me out of it. My current Monster isn't what I'd call cheap to insure, either.
They sure are fun, though!

Oh, I thought you were referencing the original Ducati Scrambler. I had a '67 250 in part of high school and college.
The start of my love affair with big singles.

All in all, they actually did a great job on this. Not a "classic" scrambler look but it's an obvious scrambler and stays true to Duc's dramatic accents. May just need a little bit more fender up front for grit and definitely different mirrors.
The specs look pretty good, too.

Here's a better pic

(see how "casually riding by" MCN journalist cannot keep close to Ducati test rider...) ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... (Kick starting cerimony
)
The Factory claims 75bhp... sweeet...
What are my impressions ?
Good bike, but a number of things should be improved, options offered:
1. 19" front wheel, AND A FULL SIZE REAR FENDER
2. Old / Retro style instrumentation, maybe with a combined oil press/temp gauge in the middle
3. The old style "frying pan" air filter, fork boots, the long "slash cut" muffler,
4. An inboard front disc brake to recall the original huge front drum
5. More specific "dirt" tires
6. Small transparent plexiglas "windows" to show off your desmodromic cams & rockers
(eat your heart out, Harley !
)
AND MOST OF ALL, AN AFTERMARKET MERCHANDISING CAMPAIGN EQUAL TO THAT OF BMW AND HD...

That new scrambler is beautiful. Makes so much more sense,historically and aesthetically, than the ridiculous horror that is the Diavel. FFS, a Ducati cruiser? Didn't work with the Indiana, same with Diavel. I hope we see the scrambler on the road here some time.
