If you are running a VM36 with the stock throttle...you either have to buy a cable from Lancer, have someone custom make you one, or make one yourself.

I bought the parts I needed from a bicycle shop, and I used the stainless teflon coated inner wire.  It is really smooth....took me a while to learn how to solder to stainless.  I needed a special flux.

If you are at all handy with a soldering iron, you can get throttle cable kits from Venhill.  The inner cable is galvanized to make it easy to solder - but it didn't make a cable as smooth as the stainless inner and bicycle shop outer.

The throttle cables I  have made run $60 + shp. so they are not cheap, and takes a couple of weeks to get usually.  They are really nice cables and if you want stainless braid for a few extra $$ you can do that too; even get a full matching set of throttle/clutch/brake cables/line. (~$200 for the set)

If you can make your own stuff it can save some money now and more whenever you need cables later.  It's fun too.

I'm going to be running a biltwell whiskey throttle so does that affect anything? Sounds like making one is my best bet.

I don't know what that throttle looks like/how it's set up, so cannot say how it may affect anything.  The throttle cables I use are made to specifically match the 3 types of hookups used on the LS650.
Making your own may be a good way to go if you are comfortable with doing so.
