Forward control trouble
08/04/14 at 18:43:03

So i bought forward controls from Mule couple months ago, I installed them and have been riding the bike like at least 10 times for miles at a time, they are great!
I just started having problems, the shifter sometimes gets stuck in the down or up position when I shift into either first or the up gears...

Does the shifter need to be greased? Where should I grease it?
Did something come out of alignment? How do I adjust/align them?

Its not bent, I checked...

Thanks yall

Is the spline linkage rubbing on the case?  When I installed mine I know there wasn't much clearance. Plus, I believe the slimed linkage has to be straight down, yours appears to be offset.

What is this "slimed linkage" you talk of, never heard this term??

I believe his spell check made slimed form "splined".

Disconnect the linkage, and see if the pedal move freely.  If not, take it apart an lube it.

Dave,

Spell check and small keyboard on my phone got me again.  the SPLINED link arm should be facing straight down. This will give you full movement for shifting up and down. The one in the photo looks to be offset to the front of the bike.

Exactly the same thing happened to me. Yes the shifter has to be greased. You have to take it off, or at the least slide it over, and grease it. The stock shaft had a groove ground in it to act as a sort of reservoir, but the shaft on the forward control does not.
I thought about putting a grease fitting on it, but it would be more trouble than it's worth.

Guess I'll grease it since it was working perfectly fine once I installed them a few months ago.

Thanks guys!!
