In a tire, all tires, the first number is how, 'Wide', it is.
The second number is, how, 'Tall', it is.
the 3rd number, is the, 'rim' size.
Now you can change, the to first two, 'to a degree';
but not the 3rd one, (unless you get a different rim/s)
Factory rear is 140/80-15
I found, it was hard to find a, 'set', that are the same.
It was easier, to find a 'set', going, a bit narrower, and a bit taller,
(130/90-15) (MT-66's)
Many people put on a 140/90, or a 150/90,
BUT, they, 'may', rub the inside bolts of your fender.
I Like the, 'bit', taller and narrower.
If you are building a, 'special' bike, and need something, 'special' for that rim/style/looks. Than talk to a, Tire, expert. not to a goof ball, on the internet, who just's want to sell you, 'any ol tire'.
But it all depends all on what, you, want to do.
The thing to do, is look for, 'fresh' tires. (a year old at the most),
and a, 'set'. (Made in the SAME Country !)
The rubber compounds are DIFFERENT, as to where they are made !
Ya ONLY got, 2 tires on a Bike, NOT 4 !
On my cage, sure I will put different tires on front and rear,
BUT, BOTH, fronts are the SAME, and Both Rears are the SAME.
Some people on this list will disagree,
but when I am leaning over on a curve,
I want GOOD Rubber !
