Muffler questions
06/19/14 at 16:43:23

So I have been thinking about replacing the stock muffler.
i understand louder is not necessarily more power or even in some cases good for your bike.

I want a louder muffler that will offer as much power or more to my bike.

I hear a lot of people here talking about Dynas. They say that they are not loud but change the tone and are even better than the stock muffler that comes with the bike.

I want to make the right choice for my bike.
I do plan on re jetting at some point. I do plan on cone filter also at some point.

I would like to hear what people have to say. Pro's and con's of different things that have been tried. I'm quite sure that there must be a thread on this somewhere so feel free to link that up too if you please.

As always, thank you for your time and input.

Dyna is a great replacement for the stock muffler

The only con of the dyna is that its not loud enough

When i ran the dyna I rejetted to 1 step higher and the bike ran perfect but it was tooo quiet for me so I went with the Jardine then to the MAC then to the Jardine then back to the MAC :-D

Wow that was friggin loud!!
I'm not sure what the repercussions of debaffling the muffler is other than waking dead people in a graveyard as you drive by and thus starting the zombie apocalypse. Grin

I leave for work at 4:30 am. For the record. I don't need anything that loud!!  Shocked

I drilled a 3/8 inch hole in the baffle plate of my dyna muffler. It was enough to make it a little louder without getting into obnoxious territory.

I did the Dyna and it has a nice "note", when you get on the throttle it actually sounds serious but not obnoxiously loud. I re-jetted and did the pod filter too, the bike runs a LOT better!

I used to have a Jardine on a savage.

Man, was it LOUD.

I put the dyna on mine and I like it a lot. It's smaller - the stock burned a whole in my saddle bag. It's way to big for the bike, I think.

When you look at Dyna's on flea bay there are like a 100 that come up!!

Are they all dynas?
How can you tell?
Do they come in different shapes and sizes?
I'd love a turn out if they come like that.
They seem like the cheap way to start anyhow.

Don't forget about the Raask.
http://www.raask.se/ind-eng.htm
It has a larger diameter double walled header, Loud but acceptable if not over revved in the city, but gets really loud if you goose it.
Relatively costly, but you are getting a complete system, not just the muffler, and in my opinion, worth every penny.
Oh, and it looks good too. Wink

Raask sounds sick
No prices on the website. You have a ballpark on what they cost?

Just shoot him an E-mail. I can't remember what I paid, and I live in Canada so I paid an extra 13% anyway. (HST).

Holy cow.
$400 +135 S&H
Too rich for my blood.
Probably worth every penny.
For 350 shipped I would have considered saving up for it.
It's probably the type of thing that after you shell out the cash and have it installed you know where your money went and why you spent as much as you did.

I guess it is just a "pipe dream"  for the time being.  :'(

Save the shipping cost and wait time.  Put a "Want to buy" ad in your local Craigslist.  I did this a couple weeks ago and got replies the next day.

Ended up getting a pair in excellent condition with clamps and heat shields for $40.
Passing along a suggestion from justin_o_guy  Wink

I hear ya SP.  The only problem is that I am not much of a fan of the way they look.
On the other hand,  not much of a fan of the stock either.  For cheap, improved hp and sound plus the fact that they are tried tested and approved by the folks here.  I may as well do it.

Still interested in hearing other people's experiences.

I'll be posting an add in the market place.
