Lost keys
03/22/14 at 12:22:42

Having bought loads of new bits and pieces and fitted them on.. and a lot of cleaning and rubbing down...

I finally have come to start the machine... and cant find the ignition keys!

Looked everywhere I can think of..

Anyway... suppose I am not the first to do this. Question is.. what can I do about it? Is it possible to get a new key for it ( I cant imagine life is that simple ) or do I have to go to the immense hassle of swapping the ignition barrel... the fuel cap, the tool box cover and the helmet holder mechanism? If so.. is this even possible ?

:'(

KEYS! I JUST went through that.  OK... pull the ignition switch and on the cylinder there is a piece of black tape. The key number is embossed ON that piece of tape. You have to get in the right light to see it.  A good locksmith or Suzuki dealer will charge you about 20-25.00 to make a key.

As noted in the threads linked... Your key code is embossed on a black strip of tape on the ignition switch cylinder. One screw to remove it, get a decent flashlight and you can read the code. Take it to a good locksmith or a Suzuki dealer and it'll cost you about 20.00 for a key. Been there. Done that.

And once you get the new key, have at least two spares made! I keep one spare in my wallet and one in the keybox in the house. The one in the wallet has bailed me out a couple of times until I located the key ring I regularly use!

I'm worse, I've awakened in the morning, done the whole morning ritual, goofed at the comp for a few, got up to go to work 'WHERE'S MY KEYS?! rip the house apart in a panic, then found them hanging in the door lock where I left them the night before when I let myself in
