Got another one, Not a Bike

I'm in love with things that go BOOM !!! here's my latest addition to the collection.

I won an auction on E-bay about two month's ago for a 16 1/2 inch long raw bronze casting of a British style ships cannon and went a bit crazy machining and building it in my home shop. The carriage is made out of 5/4 Coco Bolo which is an exotic wood almost as hard as Ebony. I spun the barrel on a south Bend 10 inch metal lathe which almost didn't fit. To bore the barrel to .54 caliber I ended up using a wood lathe and rigged up an outboard bearing to keep everything straight. I couldn't find any machine shop that even wanted to touch the boring job so ended up getting creative.
After a lot of work it ended up as a 20 inch long working model of a British 24 pounder from around 1780. It's a shooter with a .54 caliber bore 15 inches long and it weighs in at 17 1/2 pounds.
Here's a video grab of the cannon at the local range shooting 75 grains of FF black powder (a medium to light load) pushing a .53 patched lead round ball.

I haven't had a chance to get the .50 caliber Parrott cannon appraised yet. Missed the local antique show that hits the fair ground every 4 months and am just having fun shooting it along with the ship's cannon.
Going under the knife next week for a busted off bone spur in my left elbow and will be out of action for 10-12 days. It would be a good time to find someone to appriase it, won't be able to play in the shop.
