Dear Geeks
01/31/14 at 08:06:35

Im having some real "slowdown" issues. I opened task manager & closed tabs. CPU use went from over 50% to next to nothing, opened Firefox again, CPU use spiked, dropped back to 4%, working fast.. in 10 minutes, CPU use is back up to over 50 %, I have 3 tabs open, Suzukisavage, Illuminattiguzzisti & Infowars, back to slow & setting the cursor with a mouseclick to autoscroll makes it herky jerky,,

Should I uninstall Firefox & reinstall? Ive got a bug somewhere,, how do I find it & stomp it?

Download malwarebytes and let it do a scan...(follow their instructions, they may want you to scan in safe mode)...
malwarebytes has a free version...

I'll second that.  Since it seems to be firefox doing it, are there several video ads playing in one of the screens?  A few video ads can create some slowdown. I've had this problem before especially if several of them are flash or even some flash based websites have caused slowdowns.

Definitely determine if you have a malware problem. That can be some bad stuff.

We are assuming you have funcioning anti-virus? If not, you can download a pretty decent free antivirus from http://free.avg.com.

I havent run anti-malware in a bit ( work does it for me at work) havent been using the home PC much.
But I do third the anti-malware

Another test would be to hit both suzukisavage and guzzi websites but not infowars.. and see what happends over time. i susupect that the infowars page is running some "scripts" which uses your PC's CPU to power. If the problem goes away you know its them. If it does not go away then yeah... most likely a trojan on your system.

Firefox screen has a down arrow icon, in the upper right area of the screen, next to the "home" icon.
That is where the downloads are.  Click, you should see the dowloads.  Right click on a file and you can open the "containing folder"
OR
C:\Documents and Settings\xxxxxx\My Documents\Downloads

At least that is where mine go.

Put a shortcut to m-bytes on you desktop... then shut sown...
boot back up holding down the F8 key and you should go to safe mode...
Try running it from there... (I think that will bypass your AVG and firewall)l...

Anybody.. feel free to tell me I'm wrong... I ain't that computer clever either...
Huh...
