Can I use the old cam? Will it be close enough to call with a new cam's dimensions or should I measure the old cam?

Yeah, the cam lobes are definitely worn out. Rockers feel like they have dished out a little too. The head doesn't look bad but I do need to do the plastigap thing to see if there's enough there to do the sanding trick. I'm thinking of going to our junkyard (I know they have a good wrecked motor) and picking up a cam there.

A quick question on the piston and cylinder... does the piston drop far enough down to see if there is a ridge at the rings?
