Looking for Correct Seedometer Cable
10/18/13 at 12:46:22

I am in the process of getting a speedometer and put it on the handlebar.

Where can I get a speedometer/tachometer cable with the correct length? What is the lenght? Is it a Speed or Tach cable I need? Part number and link would be helpful.

I looked at rerouting it through with the other cables and have removed the gas tank. Realized the OEM is not the solution.

Will plug the hole in the gas tank with a voltmeter or some other display.

Thanks in advance for your help

The cable you have shows you the size you need on one end. YOu decide how long it needs to be based on where you want it.

The internet answers many questions..
Call around, ask if one end can be a different size, check the size your speedo will be, just use your head,

Someone, somewhere, once said:

"Speedo on the handlebar: The tach cable from a mid 80’s Suzuki GT750 is a direct swap but just an inch or two longer."

It worth investigated ...

and it looks like Spamy on this site said:

I think its been mentioned on the site before but what used for the speedo was a 75' GT550 tachometer cable. It fit perfect. I bought it off of ebay for 10 bucks. It was used, but you can still get new ones for 18 bucks.
Part # 34940-34030"

Hope it helps!

I used a tach cable from a  73-77 GT550, got it off EBAY for $22 including shipping.  Perfect fit!

Thanks for the help!
Will measure the length and start searching and ordering one 1973-1977 GT 550 Tachometer cable.
