Ha, primo is a good one! Better than Apo, reminds me too much of Alpo (dog food).

By the way, a while back I posted a pic of the Dyna slip ons that I ordered from fleabay. The seller advertised them as having baffles but you can see straight through them. I took em to the shop down the street and they said that they were racing baffles???? Sorry but there wont be no racing here dude! Anyway, it basically looks like this inside. Can I use them and if so, what kind of jets am i looking at getting? Huh

JOG,.. this is a lady you're talking to...
Not to be sexist, but some folks might have trouble hefting a 370lb bike...
Especially without a lot of experience...

Then again,.. she may just kick my butt for even thinking such a thing...  Grin...

OOOpsies!  I totally missed the pink thing over there.. Well,, maybe call that friend but this time SHE needs to be telling HIM what to do.. & maybe even chancing a busted nail..BUt we all know what the shop costs.
Id rather buy some meat & taters & have a cook out & work on my bike.
BUT, the real question IS,, Do those spacers need replaced? I cant believe someone CUT parts that were IN a machine & working,, what did he think? Someone put the wrong parts in? How did it work so long? He is kinda spooky. but, with supervision, he mite be okay.

Hmmmm?... I really need to think of a nickname for "aegerprimo"...

In defense of Primo's friend..  I think he assumed something was incorrect at the start, because of the rubbing tire...
Not realizing that the original tire, a 140/90-15 was oversize...
140/80-15 is stock...

Primo,.. a 140/90-15 is fine... most of us use that size, but you do have to check for bolt clearance, and get shorter bolts or swap to smooth head bolts for fitting without rubbing... especially if you have saddlebag mounts...

MIne never rubbed,, I even pulled side rails w/ the tire on. I can see how someone mite think something was wrong, but if its rubbing both sides,, ehh,, maybe not,,

Those open type pipes are only really suitable for drag racing...
Not any kind of road racing or riding...

They'll be so loud, they set off car alarms,.. and the bike will not idle or run well... it will only like full throttle...
I wouldn't bother putting them on or trying to jet for them...
... but, if you do...you'll want to jet so rich that the bike practically drools gas...  Maybe a #157.5 main and #60 pilot...

Sorry to bear such pessimistic news... Huh...

Straight pipe only needs a 155 main and 55 pilot, with no white spacer tinkering. AP, send me your mailing address, with real name, via PM and I'll drop a pair of 155/55 in the mail for you. I had to down size the jets in mine. The pilot jet from mine is an HD spec with bleed holes, will look different than what you take out, but works exactly the same.

As for aftermarket baffles, get a 12" slip in, wrap it in copper or stainless scrubbing pads. That's the extent of my muffler, sounds like a helicopter.

No idea w/o having the muffler in my hand, sorry. Mine has had a 12" steel pack and a 29" extension for 12 or 13 years.

Of course, mine is pretty much straight out of the late 40s or early 50s in the looks department, right down to a drum front wheel. Other than the current grips and the aluminum mirror mounts, it could almost pass...

Doesn't look much like a Savage anymore.

A baffle won't help much... It's still going to be very loud...
Inserted baffles are just reducers but do very little to quiet the noise...
What you need, is a chambered muffler... these direct the exhaust through different sections of a muffler and greatly reduce the noise...
Unless you like very loud pipes, you'll be throwing good money after bad...
You'll be shocked at how very loud your little bike can be...
Turning what you have, into a chambered muffler would cost more than just buying a Harley take-off...

A pic of the complete muffler would be helpful...
...but, I think I'd sell them on Craigslist and buy a good one...
JMHO...  won't bother you with mentioning it again if you're determined to make do...
Wink...

Naw, not determined. Just want it to be louder and less buzzy. Don't see any Dynas on fleabay right now so I guess I'll wait till I can find something.
