Ryca shocks on a stock s40
10/05/13 at 08:42:02

I'm sure that this has been addressed on another post but I wasn't having any luck finding it. So I ordered a pair of shocks from ryca for my s40 but can't seem to get them to compress. I tried using the tool they included but still nothing - no compression or decompression when I turn it with the key. Is there something I'm supposed to lock? What am I doing wrong?

you don't compress them to put them on, you extend the swingarm till you can.

The stock shocks are 10.5 inches, the RYCA ones I believe are 13.5".

The RYCA shocks are part of the changes needed to convert a cruiser into a Cafe racer look.  You may not want this long of a shock if you are not wanting to change the look.  There are shocks available that are 11.5", 12", etc. that may work better than stock - and not bring the back end as high.

Yea I have 13.5" progressive shocks on my stock S40, looks really weird LOL.  I put them on to start mocking up all the changes for the belt guard and to line up the geometry for my new tank and such and was going to swap the stockers back, but after a quick ride the feel was just so much more responsive in cornering and comfortable riding in general I left them on  Grin
