oil leak

On the Black fins of  my 2005 engine , in the middle on the left side, and on the front in the middle where the cavity is,i have oil leaking .Not all that much, because there isn't any on the ground ,and it's not toward the top of the motor, but,a couple 4" strips of oil.Is that a sign of  anything terrible?

Without seeing it in person I won't say for sure, but it sounds like the typical LS650 "head plug leak". Nothing to get cranked up about, just keep an eye on the oil level and plan on taking off the rocker box at some point(when there's enough of a leak to keep ya awake at night)and resealing the rubber head plug. There must be a ton of posts about in on here.

There is a front and rear head nut in those cavities...
Try giving them a little tighten....
...(also check the left front chrome head cover nut... it also tightens down the real head cover)...Wink...

If that ain't it,.. probably what ZAR said...

Serobot, I want to tell you thanks for telling me about the bolt in the cavity in the front of the engine. I didn't see it. I put a wrench on it and it was loose. I tightend it a good half turn, but not overly. Do you advise anything else reguarding this bolt? I'm going to clean the oil off to see if its still leaking . I don't think I could get a torque wrench in there. The bolt on the back of the motor in the cavity was tight. This is not the first time I received great advice . Thanks again!
