Sat on a Hyosung

Went window shopping for a new helmet and ended up sitting on a Hyosung GT650PEFI, $NZ9500 on road, that's about $US7600. The current price for a new S40 here is $NZ8500 on road or about $US6800. The Hyosung has fifty four bhp for learners and by removing a throttle stop it can be increased to 80bhp aprox. While I love my S40, I would have been tempted if I had money, but I'm not sure if the sport/road position would be suitable at my time of life. Still 200 to 230 kmph, hmmm.

I came close to buying one when I went for the Guzzi. I dont think they still sell them there,,TheyDo have a rep for quality,, The Guzzi dealer in Houston is a Guzzi dealer cuzhe loves them. They make their $$ as a Mercedez/porsche/bmw shop. This guy started out opening up a motorcycle repair shop in the summer to finance his college. One summer he was so busy, making good $$ he decided he would stay open & lay out of school fora semester. That was like 25years ago.,..he employs 8 or 10 people. I get goose bumps every time I tell that success story,,

Sure, it can do 200 kmph, and then what?  The Savage can do 140 kmph -- how often will you do over 140 kmph?   On the other hand, what will the Hyosung do on the street when the traffic signal goes green?  There isn't much that will beat the Savage across the intersection.

JC,, Run away

From a dealer

Support is worse than Guzzi. Yes, it's true.
Not bad bikes, but you will have to buy at fire-sale prices to make it worthwhile.
Carb float bowl gaskets and oil filters currently on back-order.

The Hyo rep makes our Guzzi rep look like a frequent visitor.

Thanks for all the info JOG2, I haven't really got the money, 1930 Whippet Four will need a lot of engine work next year and one of the greatest things about the S40 is that it suits my little short legs.
