Some kind of dark fluid leak from emission hose
09/28/13 at 08:41:42
So... my baby was dropped. A few things got shifted around but most of it I got back in place. One of my pegs got sheared and needs to be replaced, but that's not what concerns me.
One of the hoses that hangs down below the bike is dripping what looks like oil. Clymer calls it an emission control hose. Nothing else around there was wet with oil, just the tip of the seal at the end of the hose.
Should I be concerned?

I'm not certain which hose that is,... but, I'm guessing it's the airbox drain tube...
It should have a little plug on the end (you probably lost it)...
Without being capped.. it will drool a little... that's normal...
Since your bike fell over,... some oil went in places it don't usually go... So, it's gonna; drool out... Once it's gone, it'll be fine...
If you can give a pic, that would clear things up...
The airbox drain... hangs down below the frame, just behind the engine..
Don't worry about it... (you might check your air filter to see if it got drenched, a little oil won't hurt it, too much may be restrictive)...
I'd guess the leak is temporary...
Plug that tube, and drain at each oil change... (if you want to prevent your bike from marking it's territory)...

Ok cool. Strange thing was that it was capped but still drooling. Very slowly though.
I'm changing the oil and filter today so I'll drain these plugs and inspect the airbox as well.
Good to know it's nothing super severe. Thanks

I left something under that leak last night before I went home. I looked today and it was just a little bit of oil. It seems to have stopped leaking. Yay.
Instead of doing oil today I changed the front brake pads. It went well. One step closer to getting on the road.
Thanks for all your help. This site rocks.

Tested the caliper to make sure it slides on the pins? Cleaned & lubed them? Both pads pretty evenly worn?
What kind did ya put on?

I think this is pretty much what I got.
The caliper slides on the pins but I didn't lube it. I cleaned out a lot of the gunk with brake cleaner and a toothbrush. The pads I took out were extremely worn but not unevenly. I haven't ridden the bike yet but I tested the brakes just rolling back and forth and they work very well, almost too well.
