My two cents'...
I am NOT surprised at all...
We all know the United States exist, of course.
We all know there is electricity, of course.
We all know of cellphones and the internet and plasma screens... of course !
Yet NOBODY here in the Forum can presumably manufacture a machine with his bare hands to create electricity... much less manufacture even just
one transistor... let alone an entire
cellphone !
So ?
So... let us imagine that "something" happens, and we drop back to the Stone Age... no electricity, no elevators, no TV, no refrigerators... run out of pre-loaded ammo and all you have are black powder muzzleloaders to hunt deer...
...and the only ones making a good living out of all this ate the primitive peoples who still live their traditional lifestyle in New Guinea or the Amazon rain forest etc... Kalahari Bushmen and all that...
Allow a few centuries so that any "modern" tool is either broken beyond repair, or worn to uselessness, or simply impossible to replicate (even a drill bit! or a screw!) so that everything which is still in people's memory becomes ... mythological ...
YUP !
Then allow a few thousand years, Mankind survives, and somebody digs up a table lamp from a mudpit...
...or a Chevrolet Camaro...
...or a TV remote control whose plastic shell survived intact...
"Whatdahellizzat ???"
So... NOBODY can vouch that Mankind was modern and high tech OR primitive before Noah and the Flood and the Ark etc.
All we have is the Book of Genesis... but it doesn't tell us what kind of stove women used to cook dinner... why should it ?
We simply
assume Noah was Neolithic or Copper Age at best, but it's an assumption based on convention.
Nothing more hazy and vague than an assumption...
Nothing more likely to be contradicted by new evidence than ancient convention...
