Well the FXR was first built in 1982 so maybe Suzuki copied Harley.

Yeah, I have to say in my own opinion that just about every Asian made motorcycle company copied Harley as some point or another.

I thought the FXR was a Sportster-based frame with a Wide Glide front end and a big twin...or something along those lines.
But yeah, I'd say most of the Japanese manufacturers emulate the Harley designs.

That sure is a short looking swing arm.......and the shocks mount behind the axle? Weird!

Swing arm is standard length, mounts in the back of the transmission. Shocks behind axle give a better visual AND a smoother ride.
FX chassis has been around since the early nose cone Shovelhead days. It works, now called the Dyna. Some minor updates over the 70-72 originals, but the same basic layout.
