I checked the online parts list and it shows the flat bars in 1986, then 1987 went to the Buckhorns.  The Buckhorms continued until 2005, then the flat bars came back.  The online parts list is missing for a few yearsin the 90's....but I don't think there was a change in those years.

It's "missing" because the bike was unavailable in the USA for several years, like 88-94. Consumer demand brought it back, and yet there are dealerships all over the country that to this day still don't want and/or can't sell them.

Aha there is two bars. Here in Sweden I have only seen the buckhorn bar.
I feel the bar is close to me and have thought of buying something else. The flat bar is it more forward?

the flat bar is just about the same as an s40, but its not a straight bar like a mountain bike but yes it is more forward than the pullback bars i actually took the msf course on a virago w pullbacks and i was like holy crap this is wayyy different than mine i personally like the look of the flat bars more than the pullback( buckhorn) i guess its a preference thing thanks guys Smiley
